Society’s desperate need for diversity and social cohesion is no different today than it was during World War II. In a time of unprecedented economic growth and technological revolution, that need has never been clearer. And this is what my students are up against: globalization, technological progress, increased income inequality, demographic change.
As we wait for the inevitable knowledge imbalance to correct itself, as we hope for research and development to rectify the social problem of widespread illiteracy, what if we could learn to recognize the signs of a coming knowledge imbalance and act preemptively?
Deepest Fear: When you see a group of people with extremely different skills, you see a conflict. When you recognize someone who doesn’t have the skills you think are the most valuable, you see the possibility of a future tragedy.
