After Frozen 2, I thought this was one of the most beautiful Disney movies I have seen in a long time. The animation was excellent and the songs were beautiful. It’s a very light-hearted movie and so had a lot of humour. I thought the story was well-told and I thought the ending was great. So if you are looking for a fun movie to take the kids to or if you are looking to get your Valentine’s Day date to watch one of the best family films of the year, Frozen 2 is one you need to go and see.
Having watched the first Frozen, I was very familiar with the story. I know that’s not true for many people who haven’t seen it, so I’m going to make a quick summary of the plot for you. Frozen is about sisters, Anna and Elsa, who are separated in infancy and Anna goes into her icy form and Elsa goes into her “happily ever after” form. The movie is about how they get reunited and how their lives become much less about ice and much more about how they grow to be loving sisters. It’s about how they learn to love and accept each other and how they deal with the complications of their big sister relationship.
This plot has, unsurprisingly, been done hundreds of times. But it’s done well. There is a lot of humour and some beautiful moments. The thing I liked about this movie the most is that the story is told through the point of view of the main characters. It’s very rare to see a story from one character’s point of view so I thought that was a great idea. Unlike the first Frozen, which I think was about the love between the sisters, this one is more about the love and acceptance between the sisters, which is a very different thing to watch. I thought that this was one of the things that made it stand out from the many other retellings of this story.
