The shooting of the film began in March 2002 and took place in Hyderabad and the surrounding areas. It was shot at 100 locations spelt out by Krishna, with Varadarajan directing the choreography.
Kireeti Damini and Rehana, who played the female leads, said this was the first time any Telugu movie had been shot in astronomical locations in India. The locations included Nilakantheswara temple in Hyderabad; Ramayapatnam Navy Dockyard and Bhaya Nandini Temple in Andhra Pradesh; Guntur, Velgachalam and Kaveri in Karnataka.
The music was scored by the Indian musical composer Devi Sri Prasad, who was also working on his other project, Sarala, and was supervised by his assistant Singeetam Srinivas. In April 2002, it was revealed that the film would feature the duet "Madamelikki", performed by Geeta Dutt and Chiranjeevi, was a hit, helping the film to gross about 50 crore at the Box office.
From the music, it became apparent that a major change would have to occur in the way that K. V. Raghavan handled the film. K. V. Raghavan had given music for eight successive Raghuvaranga films, yet each time the movie went on to become a super hit.
He said Manjula's iconic villain song, "I Love You", had spread on radio sets throughout the country because of its beautiful melody. "At a time when it was extremely difficult to set the mood for the song, Manjula's soaring vocals and unexpected improvisations made it memorable.
