After you download a.zip file, you should uncompress it in the folder you wish to install QGIS. The binary file is called qgis.exe and the corresponding installer will be called qgis-bin.exe. If you are building the qgis-bin.exe installer manually, you should move the file to the desktop. On Windows, you can use the WinZip or WinRar software to uncompress a.zip file.

Installing from the OSGeo4W Installer If you are installing QGIS via the OSGeo4W Installer, you have the option of installing the latest version of QGIS or an older version. See OSGeo4W page .

Once you have installed QGIS, you will see a menu on the main QGIS screen called “QGIS Projects”. Here, you will find your single project created in the tutorial. On the Project tab, you can set the project title. Remember to save the project in your computer. For Windows users, you can create a shortcut of the project with the file menu, saving it in the My Documents folder.
